Hello and thank you for being here! My name is Mariana Leon and I’m a Venezuelan-American painter and photographer based in Austin, Texas. In both painting and photography, I aim to create lasting odes to nature, life, sunlight, and color.

I was raised between Houston and Venezuelan in my childhood, and I paint from a connection to place, loss, and lineage. My current body of work, Wild Mother, channels the layered beauty of everyday experience where softness, chaos, and ancestral memory coexist on the canvas.

I studied screenwriting as a Radio-Television-Film major at the University of Texas at Austin, and bring that same sense of narrative to my visual work. I live and paint in the hills of Austin, where I raise my three young children and four fur babies with my wonderful husband.
